This exhibition on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the European String Teachers Association, which will be presented to you during the anniversary congress in Graz, was created by the Austrian ESTA section and the University Archive of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. The exhibition is especially intended to shed light on the beginnings of the organization as well as offering insight into a few of the ESTA-congresses of the past years. The founding president of ESTA, Marianne Kroemer, has supported the exhibition with pictures and documents as well as original recordings.
Conversations with colleagues, especially Vera Schwarz, as well as a personal contact with the then president of the American String Teachers Association, Paul Rolland, inspired Marianne Kroemer to found ESTA. Together with Franz Zeyringer, the European String Teachers Association was founded on the 22nd of June 1972.
